About You!
We have an opening for a Research Associate/Junior Associate Scientist who will serve in a key role in the discovery and development of peptide drugs for lung related diseases and cancer. This position works closely with the biology department and CMC to perform peptide design, synthesis, characterization, screening, pre-formulation, and assist in testing (in vivo and in vitro). The key deliverables for this role are new and effective peptide drug discovery in accordance with corporate timelines and budgets.
You will be responsible for:
• Synthesis and purification of peptides in house and, if needed, by engagement with various CROs while mindful of process cost and potential future IP protection.
• Pre-formulation development including stability test for liquid, solid.
• Aerosol and dry powder-based peptide drug development.
• Interacting and coordinating or assisting in the testing of new APIs with other teams/CRO and timely seeking data upon completion of various tests for incorporation into a report.
• Consolidation and interpretation of all data into (1) report for each new chemical entity/structure, and/or (2) clear presentations and/or reports related to performance comparison of several new chemical entities/structures.
You have the following skills and qualifications:
• BS/MS/PhD in relevant scientific discipline with experience in R&D methods and process
• Knowledge of organic chemistry and macrocyclic peptide synthesis strategies is a plus
• Proficient at purifying complex peptides and peptidomimetics by using HPLCs, LC/MS, and other instruments for peptide characterization
• Experience in using and maintaining modern automated peptide synthesizers and scale-up synthesis of peptides (mgs to grams) and tech transfer.
• Experience in formulation development for peptides including aerosol and dry powder
• Must be able to work on projects of a multidisciplinary nature
• Must be a quick learner, self-starter, highly motivated, organized, and able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to learn at least one new skill every year and able to train others

We are committed to ensuring all employees, both current and future, receive fair and equitable pay. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package, and is determined within a range according to role, level, and location. This provides the opportunity for growth as you gain experience and develop within a role, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. The base pay range for this role is between $75,000 and $95,000 and reflects our good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum target for the position as of the date of posting and may be modified in the future. The final base pay within the range will be determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and market demand for your expertise.
