PharmaIN Corporation Presents Multiple-Ascending Dose Results from Phase 1 PHIN-001 Study of PHIN-214 in Patients with Decompensated Cirrhosis at AASLD’s The Liver Meeting® 2026
Encouraging safety and tolerability profile, together with preliminary evidence of improvement in baseline renal function following repeated dosing, support the continued development of PHIN-214 as a potential outpatient therapy.
BOTHELL, WA, November 5, 2026 — PharmaIN Corporation, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, today announced emerging safety, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic results from the ongoing multiple-ascending dose (MAD) portion of its Phase 1 PHIN-001 study of PHIN-214 in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. Eric Lawitz, M.D., Texas Liver Institute, University of Texas Health, San Antonio, TX presented the findings at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), The Liver Meeting® 2026, in Denver, CO.
“Patients with decompensated cirrhosis and portal hypertension have a substantial unmet need for new treatment options,” said Eric Lawitz, M.D., Texas Liver Institute, University of Texas Health, San Antonio, TX. “Although preliminary, the observed improvements in estimated kidney function and mean arterial pressure in this small cohort are encouraging and support further evaluation of PHIN-214 as a potential outpatient therapy.”
Key findings presented at The Liver Meeting® include:
- Safety and tolerability: PHIN-214 was generally well tolerated, with a MAD safety profile consistent with the SAD portion of the study being on-target V1a associated. Treatment-related adverse events were Grade 1 or 2 and mostly transient, resolving within the first week.
- Repeated-dose evaluation: Twelve participants with Child-Pugh class B cirrhosis received PHIN-214 across three dose levels; ten completed 28 days of treatment.
- Renal response after a single dose: In an exploratory pooled SAD/MAD analysis, mean cystatin C-based eGFR peaked at 33.5 ± 4.3% above baseline at 6 hours and remained elevated through 24 hours.
- Repeated-dose renal activity: At dose level 5, peak mean eGFR increases were approximately 35%, 32%, and 19% on Days 1, 15, and 28.
- Hemodynamic activity: In pooled SAD/MAD data, mean arterial pressure peaked approximately 3.3 ± 1.7 mmHg above baseline at 7 hours, accompanied by decreased heart rate, consistent with V1a receptor agonism.
- Pharmacokinetics: PHIN-214 was rapidly absorbed and converted to PHIN-156, which had an approximately 5-hour half-life. PHIN-214 showed approximately dose-proportional pharmacokinetics, and both compounds showed negligible overall accumulation over 28 days.
These preliminary findings support continued development of PHIN-214 as a potential self-administered therapy for longer-term management of complications of portal hypertension in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. The PHIN-001 study remains ongoing.

About PHIN-214
PHIN-214 is a novel V1a partial agonist and an optimized vasopressor therapy designed to target a clinically validated mechanism of action in portal hypertension. Designed for self-administration by subcutaneous injection, PHIN-214 has the potential to offer a safe and practical outpatient treatment option for the management of complications associated with portal hypertension in patients with decompensated cirrhosis.
PHIN-214 is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical study in patients with decompensated cirrhosis (NCT05490888).
